NOUVADerm™ 1927nm Thulium Laser

Customizable fractional laser treatments for brighter, smoother, more even-looking skin — plus a dedicated Hair Support mode for the scalp.

NOUVADerm™ is a fourth-generation 1927nm thulium laser platform designed for resurfacing the face, scalp, and body. It can deliver non-ablative, sub-ablative, or ablative fractional pulses, allowing treatment intensity to be matched to your concerns, skin, goals, and preferred recovery time.

At Vital Glow, the device is not treated as a one-size-fits-all solution. We begin with the concern — such as sun damage, uneven pigment, rough texture, fine lines, acne scarring, stretch marks, or scalp support — and then determine whether NOUVADerm or another option is the most appropriate fit.

This page explains what the technology does, how treatment is customized, and what patients in Columbia, Irmo, Lexington, Lake Murray, and the surrounding Midlands can expect.

One Laser. Multiple Levels of Renewal.

NOUVADerm gives the provider control over treatment depth and intensity instead of forcing every patient into the same protocol.

A lighter approach may be selected for overall revitalization and maintenance, while more corrective settings may be considered for visible pigment, texture, scarring, or other concerns. The best setting is the one that balances your goal, skin response, safety, and willingness to have visible recovery.

More intensive treatment is not automatically better. Thoughtful customization is what makes the technology useful.

NOUVADerm Treatment Goals & Signature Modes

The same 1927nm thulium platform can be used in different ways. Your provider selects the treatment mode, energy, density, coverage, and number of passes based on the concern and the amount of recovery that is appropriate for you.

How the 1927nm Thulium Laser Works

NOUVADerm delivers fractional energy in a grid-like pattern. The 1927nm wavelength is absorbed by water in the epidermis and superficial dermis, creating controlled microthermal treatment zones while preserving surrounding tissue.

Those fractional zones initiate a renewal response and support new collagen and elastin production. Because only a fraction of the treatment area is affected with each pass, surrounding skin helps support recovery.

The platform can deliver non-ablative, sub-ablative, or ablative pulses. Your provider determines the appropriate mode and settings based on the area, concern, skin type, prior treatments, and desired recovery profile.

What NOUVADerm Does — And What It Does Not Replace

NOUVADerm is primarily a resurfacing and revitalization tool for concerns concentrated in the upper layers of the skin. It can be a strong option when pigment, tone, texture, pores, fine lines, scarring, or overall skin quality is the main goal.

It is not automatically the best tool for every aesthetic concern. Treatment planning may involve a different device or a combination approach when the concern is deeper laxity, muscle-driven wrinkles, volume loss, redness or visible vessels, active acne, or hydration and maintenance.

This is why consultation matters. Vital Glow may recommend NOUVADerm alone, stage it with another treatment, or suggest a different path entirely. Learn more about our anti-aging and skin-rejuvenation options and our guide to sun damage, texture, pores, and dull skin.

Head-to-Toe Resurfacing, Customized to the Area

NOUVADerm was designed for resurfacing beyond the face. The larger treatment area and customizable delivery allow providers to address appropriate concerns on the neck, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, legs, and other body areas.

Different areas do not respond exactly the same way. Skin thickness, sun exposure, pigment pattern, healing history, and the nature of the concern all influence the recommended settings and treatment plan.

  • Face: tone, texture, pores, fine lines, and visible sun damage
  • Neck and chest: uneven tone, photoaging, and textural concerns
  • Hands and arms: sunspots and age-related pigment changes
  • Shoulders, legs, and other body areas: selected pigment, texture, scars, or stretch marks
  • Customized treatment depth and recovery expectations for each area

Every area is evaluated individually. Treatment is recommended only when the expected benefit and recovery profile make sense for your skin.

NOUVADerm Hair Support Mode

NOUVADerm includes a dedicated Hair Support mode that treats the scalp and is designed to prepare it for hair-focused treatments. The fractional treatment creates a controlled healing response in the scalp and may be incorporated into a broader plan for qualified patients.

At Vital Glow, hair thinning is not treated as a single-device problem. Your plan may also consider the pattern and cause of hair loss, scalp health, medications, hormones, nutrition, stress, laboratory findings, PRP, topical support, and at-home options when appropriate.

  • Scalp-focused fractional treatment using the 1927nm wavelength
  • May help prepare the scalp for provider-selected hair treatments
  • Can be incorporated into a multi-part hair-restoration plan
  • Does not replace evaluation of medical, hormonal, nutritional, or genetic contributors
  • Does not guarantee new hair growth or replace hair-transplant surgery

What to Expect at Your NOUVADerm Appointment

1. Private consultation and skin assessment. We review your main concern, treatment history, health history, medications, recent sun exposure, current skincare, healing history, and the amount of downtime you can realistically accommodate.

2. Personalized treatment plan. Your provider explains whether NOUVADerm is appropriate, which area and intensity may make sense, whether a single treatment or series is more realistic, and whether another treatment should come first.

3. Preparation and treatment. The treatment area is cleansed and prepared. Comfort measures depend on the area and selected intensity. During treatment, patients may feel warmth, prickling, or a sunburn-like sensation.

4. Plan-specific aftercare. You receive instructions on cleansing, hydration, sun protection, products to avoid, activity, and when to contact the office. Follow the instructions for your exact treatment rather than generic online advice.

Results, Recovery & Number of Sessions

There is no single NOUVADerm recovery timeline because the platform can be used at very different intensities. A lighter revitalization treatment and a more corrective resurfacing treatment should not be expected to look or feel the same afterward.

Depending on the plan, temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity, dryness, roughness, bronzing, flaking, or peeling may occur. More corrective settings generally involve more visible recovery. Your provider will explain the expected course before treatment so you can plan appropriately.

Some patients notice brightness and smoother-looking skin as the surface renews. Changes related to collagen remodeling develop more gradually. A single treatment may be reasonable for some goals, while other concerns benefit from a series and maintenance. Results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Why Choose Vital Glow for NOUVADerm

Vital Glow was founded by Candace Danbury, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC. A laser is only as useful as the assessment, settings, safety planning, and follow-up behind it. Vital Glow’s approach is provider-led and concern-first rather than device-first.

FAQ

FAQ About NOUVADerm Laser Treatments

What is NOUVADerm?

NOUVADerm is a fourth-generation fractional resurfacing platform that uses a 1927nm thulium laser. It can deliver non-ablative, sub-ablative, and ablative pulses and includes proprietary skin-revitalization and Hair Support modes.

The 1927nm wavelength targets water in the epidermal and superficial dermal layers. Fractional energy is delivered in a grid-like pattern to create controlled microthermal zones while preserving surrounding tissue to support recovery.

It may be considered for sun damage, sunspots, unwanted pigmentation, uneven tone, dullness, rough texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, acne scars, selected superficial scars, stretch marks, and scalp support. Candidacy and expected benefit depend on the individual concern.

It can be used in non-ablative, sub-ablative, or ablative modes. Your provider selects the mode and settings based on the treatment goal, area, skin, and appropriate recovery profile.

The manufacturer describes the platform as suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and colors. That does not mean every setting or treatment is appropriate for every person. A provider must still evaluate your history, skin condition, recent sun exposure, medications, and risk factors.

Depending on the concern, it may be used on the scalp, face, neck, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, legs, and other appropriate body areas.

Comfort varies with the area and intensity. Patients may feel warmth, prickling, or a sunburn-like sensation. Your provider will explain comfort measures and what to expect for your specific plan.

Downtime depends heavily on the selected mode, settings, treatment area, and individual response. Temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity, dryness, roughness, bronzing, flaking, or peeling may occur. More corrective treatments generally involve more visible recovery.

Some goals may be addressed with a single treatment, while pigment, texture, scarring, stretch marks, or hair-support plans may require a series and maintenance. Your provider will recommend a plan after evaluating the concern.

Some patients notice improved brightness and smoother-looking skin as the surface renews. Changes related to collagen remodeling develop more gradually. Results and timelines vary, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Hair Support is a dedicated scalp-treatment mode designed to prepare and support the scalp as part of a hair-focused plan. It may be combined with other approaches when appropriate. Learn more on Vital Glow’s hair restoration page.

Yes, when clinically appropriate and properly timed. It may be staged with RF microneedling, PRP, injectables, peels, facials, skincare, or other laser treatments depending on the concern. Your provider will create a safe sequence rather than combining treatments automatically.

NOUVADerm is a fractional 1927nm thulium laser that primarily addresses upper-layer resurfacing goals such as pigment, tone, texture, and superficial signs of photoaging. RF microneedling uses needles and radiofrequency energy to target deeper collagen remodeling, firmness, texture, pores, scars, and mild laxity. Some patients may benefit from one; others may benefit from a staged combination.

Yes. The same device can produce very different treatment depths and recovery profiles. A consultation is necessary to confirm candidacy, select the appropriate plan, discuss alternatives, and provide accurate aftercare instructions.
